PRICE CHECK - 1894 Marlin Cowboy .357

Any idea of the value of an 1894 Marlin Cowboy lever gun in .357 in as new condition? Thanks.BJ

The standard barrel on an 1894 is 20". Only the Cowboy has a 26" barrel. Blaine is using the tape he measures his little ("little" being the operative word) friend. The picture steal maniac.

The first 1894CB's in 357 had 24" barrels the later and present manufacture ones now have 20" barrels .

About one month ago I sold a LNIB 1894CB in 357 MAG . This was a later 24" model as the stock was not checkered . I included a Lyman tang sight with the rifle and recieved $700 from a gentleman on Gunbroker . The $700 was my buy it now price ! I may have listed it to cheap

Marlin made the 1894CB in 357 , 44 , 44-40 and 45 Colt with 24" barrels originally .

Later Davidson's had them make special 1894CCL runs of the 32-20 , 41 MAG , 44-40 and 45 Colt with 20" barrels .

The 1894CB in 32 MAG was also 20" .

Present manufacture 1894CB's in 357 , 44 and 45 Colt are now 20" .

The 336CB in 30-30 and 38-55 was also a 24" barreled rifle .

The only one they made with a 26" barrel was and is the 1895CB .

6pt-sika is on the $$$. That's what my 411 on the 1894 Cowboys sez.

New 20" 357 1894CBs around here are $719-$729.

Two used 20" 357 1894CBs are $625 and $659 respectively at two semi-local stores.

The last 24" 357 1894CB I saw, I bought. It was used, near-new, and marked $400. That was late last fall.

Love the barrel length.
Also have an 1895 Cowboy with 26" barrel. Sweet!

I give 500.00 for my 20" CB 3-4 years ago new. Haven't kept up with pricing since then. I would think the 24" would command a bit of a premium.

Thanks for all the input guys.This Marlin had never been fired.Guy 1 bought it new,put it in safe,never fired it.Sold it to guy 2, who put in safe and also never fired it.Guy 2 sold it back to Guy 1 who called me cause he knows I am a fool for leverguns.Goofy Guy 3 bought it today for 575 and promptly took it to the range and ran 10-15 rounds through it.Great gun.Shoots better than I can.Checkered forend and stock,the octagonal barrel and fits into my shoulder like a glove.May only be a 24 inch bbl,but my recollection is they were made in 26 inch for awhile,then some other calibers were added and the barrel length dropped to 24 and finally to 20 inch before they quit making them.Oh well she be mine now.Thanks again.BJ

Sorry to hear you only got a 24-inch barrel, Goofy Guy 3. I guess you'll have to live with that nice-shooting lever that guys 1 & 2 are only now finding out can shoot.

By no means am I going to say you are wrong about them making a 1894CB with a 26" barrel .

But I'll tell you this , over the last 9 years I have spent way way more time then I should have researching , buying and shooting Marlin lever actions then I should have . And I have never heard of any of the recent (1990 to present) manufacture Cowboys other then the 1895CB coming from the factory with a 26" barrel .

The easiest thing for you to do is call the factory and ask them if you don't believe what I say .

the CB's I've seen had the 20-inch octagon, but I heard that Marlin will do custom barrels if you ask them, maybe someone did that.

Only the 1895CB chambered in .45/70 has a 26" barrell. The 1894CB Limited in .44 Mag has a 24" barrell. I know because I own both of these.

Even the old 1894 rifles were standard with 24" barrels while the longer actions were standard with 26". No biggie but I believe you're mistaken.
