Re: Prayers Up For Okies
Man it was a weird day yesterday. The tornado sirens went off here around Tinker AFB sometime around 2:00 P.M. We just looked around and said "is that what I think it is?" Tornados aren't anything new here especially this time of year, but to have one that early in the afternoon is almost unheard of. Usually it takes the heating of the day to kick off the super thunderstorms required for tornados. It's common for tornados to develop around 5:00 P.M. and last until late evening. The storms usually do one of two things, they either run out of energy as the sun goes down or merge into a line of storms which hampers tornado development.
It's also strange that so many people were killed by a tornado. At the first hint of a tornado all the networks go to live coverage of the storms. Each station has dozens of storm chasers as well as helicopters. If there's a tornado in the state during daylight hours, chances are pretty high that the news has it on live TV. I heard that Lone Grove where one of the tornados hit has a lot of trailer parks. That would explain the high death numbers, people didn't have anywhere to hide.
I'm sure they would appreciate your prayers.

What Andrew said.
The one that hit OKC touched down 2.25 miles from my house.
The wife was tripping about the dogs and my daughter was just tripping out period.
Nothing more than a little hail damage to the roof but I'm replacing it this spring anyway.
Prayers for all those affected. I'm worried that one of my friend's parents were affected in the one that hit Lone Grove.

My wife works around 15th and I-35... the Edmond twister that tore up the houses was just a few blocks from her building.
I work near the Capitol off Lincoln... sirens went off- so I turned on the TV. The line was moving to Guthrie about when school let out.
On radar we look for a "hook echo" that usually indicates a tornado... we had a major one very near the ranch.
I headed home... 105 east of Guthrie look like an ice storm from hail on the ground. All the folks and property at my place are OK.
