If you understand Win 92 actions maybe you can help out

Post by kaschi »

Is it possible to use Ross or Italian 92 clone parts(lever, undertang, hammer) in my (new version) 92 Winchester? I'd hate to buy parts only to find out the hard way that this won't work. The other back up plan would be to swap out those same parts of a Browning 92 which I have and then sell the Browning. Which is the easier way out? The reason I want to keep the Winchester is that it is one of their limited runs from about 10 years ago(rifle with 24" barrel in 44-40, my favorite old west caliber. Thanks.

kaschi,

I can't answer your question with any authority. I have read somewhere that someone did use a Rossi hammer and trigger in a Miroku Winchester. But I can't for the life of me remember who said it. Hopefully they will see your post and pipe up.

I will say though that you really shouldn't part out that Browning B92. They are pretty few and far between. You'd get much more for it intact than if you pulled out the action to fix the Winchester.

Thanks for the replies. When you say "parts for Winchesters" do you mean original parts from the old days? The reason I ask is that I'll bet they would command pretty hefty prices. If the Italian or Rossi ones would work, that might be the best solution. Hopefully that individual that might know the answer to this will spy my query.

Thanks for the help. That is really an extensive list of parts suppliers! Almost forgot about Steve. I'll have to get in touch with him.

The fire control parts like the hammer, trigger and firing pin can be made to work in the Miroku Win 92's but they aren't drop in parts. I have used Rossi levers in the Browning B92 but i have never try to use one in the Win.
