Picked up a nice Marlin 39A awhile back. pic

Post by rangerider7 »

I have never showed the photos of a 1948 Marlin 39A that I traded for awhile back. Thought they might be of interest.

That is a nice rifle. Looks like it's been really cared for.

What model of Lyman sight is on it?

Congrats Rangerider.....as Joe says, looks like somebody took good care of her. The Lyman looks perfect as well. Congrats!

It shoots great! I talked to the man that bought it new in 1948 . He said he bought it just as it is and only took it out a few times. He is a gun collector. He is getting pretty old and was glad I got it. He wanted another gun collector to get it. :)

7,

Got to add my BIG THUMBS UP!!! That baby is beautiful. Does that have the white line spacer or did they start that around 1950???

Sure adds to a gun when you know the guy that had it for years and years.

THe white line spacer was added in 1951. 1951 was also the year Marlin put a grip cap on that had a little brass plate you could send in and have your initials engraved on it. In 1952 Marlin had an insert in their catalog, dated 3/52, that stated that the grip cap program was being suspended due to the war effort.

Of course you'll being seeing all this in a few days.
