OT- Federal .38 SPL Nyclad is back.
Federal has resumed the manufacture of the .38spl 125gr Nyclad ammunition. Finally there is some good standard pressure defensive ammo availabe for those of us that don't have +P rated snubbies.
I just hope that they sell it in 50 round boxes and not the expensive 20rnd boxes.

Good news, that was good stuff.

Tks for info. I switched to Silvertips, but I believe that Nyclad is the best factory round for my ol' aluminum .38 snubbie. I'll order some now!
UPDATE - Federal announces it on its site, and lists dealers for your Zip Code if you fill in the box; but I cannot find the ammo for sale (Federal P38M Nyclad) online at any of the ammo sites that I frequent:
Midway USA, MidSouth Shooter Supply, Natchez Shooters Supply, Wideners, Streichers, Brass-Plus, Cheaper Than Dirt, Graf & Sons, Crow Shooting Supply, Ammunition To Go, Sportsmens Guide, and some others.

Almost all .38 Special is Out of Stock "No Backorder" at most places -- USAMidway for sure. A lot of different calibers are also no longer available. Same for primers and other components.
I guess you could call Obama's election a "Retail Sellout" for guns, ammo, and all things related to reloading.

Uh the 50 round boxes will cost 2 1/2 time the 20 round boxes. They went to the 20's to ease the sticker shock.

Very good news! This was my standard snubbie load until my stash ran out. I will rush out and replenish as soon as they hit the gun store shelves. I don't care if they sell them in fifties, twenties, or one at a time, I'll buy a bunch of this good ammo.
Once on a javalina hunt, I gave my rifle to a partner to cover a wash and went into a canyon to grub out a pig that had been wounded. It wasn't until I got into the canyon and saw that a bunch of nervous javalina were milling around their wounded pal that I realized that the only gun I had on me was a snub nosed 38 Special. One javalina that had been down got up and began to trot away. I took careful aim and punched a hole through its ribs with the 38. I slowed just a bit and I shot and hit it again, this time in the ham and it really slowed down. Not wanting to loose the critter I closed the 35 yard gap between us and ran in front of its path and hit it one more time - this time in the shoulder - and it went down. While dressing it out I discovered that I'd forgotten to replace my Nyclads with full wad cutters like I'd intended. I was really messing up. However, each Nyclad, except the one into the ribs - which went un-recovered, had mushroomed fully, stayed together, and made a mess of the flesh it encountered until coming to rest against off side hide on chest shot and the hip bone on the ham shot.
I think these little bullets will do the dirty duty they were made for it called upon.

Great news. That's the best round for 2 & 3 inch 38's I've found. Now I'll just have to find a dealer as buying ammo by mail if verbotten here. Oh well, I just checked the web page. Turner's has them. I was just there three days ago and they didn't mention them. Now I guess I'll just have to go back.

I hope the new stuff chronographs like the old stuff. More than once, when a gunwriter posted his results with various factory snubby loads, the 125-grain standard velocity Nyclad was true to its advertised velocity, while +P 125-grain stuff, for all its noise, was moving slower than the Nyclad. Federal had gotten the recipe right for the short barrel in their old Nyclad. I still have a little of the old left; on my last box. This is a WARM load, too, notably stouter than other standard-velocity stuff.
