[Pre safety straight grip Marlin 336 .30-30 with an 18" or 18.5" barrel.]
[Sort of a cross between a Texan and a Trapper. Anyone know the model designation?]
If it's a full-length mag, it's a Texan, made with both 18 1/2" & 20" bbls, 1954-1983 - M336T.
The later, squared lever Texan, 1984-87, was the M336TS.
I bet it will turn out to be a T model. A really nice one just sold on GB. You don't see one often. I have one I backed into at a pawn shop. It is my main gun and I have lost count of how many deer I have killed with it. It is spooky accurate. If I am carrying that gun, I am having a good day I think those 18.5" guns are the best 30-30 anybody ever made.
Well heck if 1886 ain't going to show us his new rifle I'll show mine off too! It is a 20" though 1969 vintage, bought from rogmatt here in the classifieds. It is scary accurate too.

That is it. Thanks, your photo got me off the hook. What did the one on G.B. sell for? 1886
Thanks. I would bet a dollar that rifle was some what "redone". The finish on the wood of that rifle was real shiny. Blue looked more brilliant than the typical Marlin blue. My rifle does not have brass screws in the butt. No laughing please. The SRC I own does have brass screws in that most sensitive area. That rifle was most certainly refinished! Thanks for the link. 1886.
