OT Ooooh the smell of sulpher,,

Post by Nath »

Took the Muzzle loader shotgun out today as it turned windy and got in one of my favourite pidgeon woods.
It's been to long!
I shot pretty good, three 20yders over the top of me, one left to right crosser and a high bird say 30+. Oh and one squirrel :D
I did miss a crow and plenty of other pidgeon but that was mainly due to them chinking on the wind (thats my excuse anyway).

I love this gun and can shoot it as well as any of my doubles (read average).

The weather is so different today compared to yesterday. Mild today with a wind and threats of rain. Yesterday freezing wind and mist, bitter in fact.
Here is me posing for camera on a driven pheasant shoot with my Greener and Pyrodex loaded shells.

Image

I took six pheasant this day and took some feather off a woodcock. I watch where the wood cock dropped in and later we worked dogs for it but none found except one woodcock that flew away good n' strong so I settled that it was extremely lucky to of escaped with just missing feathers or I was extremely unlucky. It was my fault in the first place, because of the cold I had my hands in my pockets when it came straight at me

I must get a new 12g sizing ring for my lee loadall, it is no longer sizing the metal case heads enough and some short brass heads don't want to enter the chamber on closing the gun

Can any of ya remember this young feller?

Image

It's young Tom, you have seen pictures of him in the past with my 9422 that he loves.
I asked if he would like to tag along for the day and he loved it.
I gave him a few shots but he did not connect but it was good to see all the same.
He say's he see's what I mean about BP loads now

Another fine shooting weekend and loads of cooking to do this week :D
For two days now the house smells of sulpher from cleaning, fabulous :D

Tia was a star all weekend, I am truelly blessed there too :D
Greetings from over here,

He is a good kid from a broken home, he does ok
I have managed to talk him into getting a good 177 air gun some months back, the last head shot he imforms me was 56 paces so I think he is coming on fine :D

Outstanding work on your part. 56 pace head shot is some darn good shooting now that he is hooked he should come along nice with powder burners. :D

Great pictures Nath. Reminds me of the years (1968 -1970) when I was stationed in Edzell, Scotland while serving in the U. S. Navy. Beautiful countryside and great people.

Very nice pics, Nath. Love your choice of fine scatterguns. Those fat Wood Pigeons looked just delicious, and I wanted to hunt 'em when we were there a couple of years back. :D

Nath,
IIRC if you were on this side of the pond the sizing ring for the Load All would be free. I think they come with a life time warranty. Since you're on the other side I would imagine you'll have to pay postage on the part.

How would you rate the service you received from your Load All? I think you're the only person I've ever known that has worn one out.

Very nice Nath. You are doing some fine work there all around. That young man will never forget the time spent.

My old loadall must be over twenty years old now Rusty. It makes some funny noises but keeps doing it ok. It is case fussy and I feel cases are real poor nowa days. It is only the sizer that I feel is worn, maybe it isn't and I just need to use high brass!
I have a MEC junior fitted out for 410 but I have to say I prefere the Lee loadall, it's far more simple (just like me).

Nath, you post great photos. Keep them coming .... it's the next best thing to hunting in England and Scotland.

Hey Nath,

Your dog is ready for action and wondering why you're wasting time posing for photographs!
He's a real sport!
