OT- Rimfire sillywet, Browning Buckmark?

Post by awp101 »

Any rimfire silhouette shooters here? Anyone shooting it with a Buckmark?

I'm curious because I found a place selling Buckmark Silhouette and Varmint barrels. The ONLY difference I can find is the Varmint has no iron sights and the Silhouette has irons.

Anyone here know if that's the ONLY difference?

Thanks!

Ya, that is about it except the rib is different on the silhouette to accept the sights. So get the silhouette at least you can use sights or take them off and scope it, or have both.

I shot silhouette for quite a few years, never could get my Browning to shoot 40X40 but could do it with my 10" Ruger MKII and Anchutze Exempler.

Thanks salvo!

I can get the barrel assembly including forearm or I can get the "kit" including the grips for about $60 more. Mine is the 5.5" Target that already has a thumbrest grip. Are the ones for the Silhouette different enough to warrant the extra cost or are they pretty much the same?

Congratulations on buying a great gun. I owned three of these at one time when silhouette was really going strong. I owned an Anschutz Exemplar at the same time and the Browning would shoot every bit as good as the Anschutz. At the Region One championship in 1991 I shot 9 of 10 shoot off chickens (Rifle chickens) at 100 yds with the Browning! Missed the first one and ran the next nine. My Anschutz probably shot as well group wise but I never duplicated this in shoot offs. I think the only difference is the sights and the ram logo on the side of the gun.

awp101, the grips changed quite a bit from run to run, Your Target grips were probable found on the Silhouette model at some point, I don't think 60.00 it would be worth it.

jmiller, thanks but I bought this Browning Silhouette in 1988 from Elgin Gates store front "The Silhouette"
I have a picture somewhere with old Elgin handing me a trophy at one of the Internationals.
Here is a picture of the picture.

Thanks salvo, I'll just get the bbl assembly!

jmiller, welcome! I'll be swapping the Silhouette barrel onto my 5.5 Target as the mood hits me.
