OT - Merry Christmas all! My son playing silent night...

Post by O.S.O.K. »

Here is a link to the youtube video - just a quick one that I took last night right after he got his new guitar. Merry Christmas to everyone here - hope all are well and enjoying their families and/or friends.

Very nice. We recently got our oldest daughter a parlor guitar, she enjoys playing and we enjoy listening.

Thanks guys - I caught him by surprise and he really didn't want me to video him... :) The sound isn't too great either, but I think it shows how pleased he is with his new guitar. It's actually his birthday present - but we thought it would be nice for him to have now and play on his break - he gets a free lesson with it.

He goes on youtube and watches the lessons on there and has taught himself to play that way - pretty cool.

Looks like he's on his way to become a thumb picker. Even Chet had a begginning, so tell him to keep it up!!

My daughter (6) got a guitar and little keyboard for Christmas today. She also wanted bongo's, but I had to put my foot down at some point - she's noisy enough without the help!!!

That's how Chet Atkins got his start. BTW there's a lot of good Chet instructional stuff on youtube.

I've seen him working with all kinds of different youtube instructionals - he'd found one that walks you through an entire piece - you can stop at any time and hear the instructor play that section... pretty cool. He works on it most every night...
He's got nice long fingers which helps alot.

This fact is why we decided to get him a decent guitar - its an Alvarez solid top - and it sounds pretty good. Not top end by any means but a good quality instrument.
