Even though I havent taken a deer yet, my daughter had a great day for the last day of Kansas Firearms Deer Season. She harvested a nice mature doe on the last day of the season using my Marlin 336C in 30-30. The same gun that I took my first deer with over 25 yrs ago. I think all would agree you can see by the look on her face she thought it was pretty cool.

Big congratulations girl! That's great. At the very least she is getting the balanced view of hunting. My 14 yr. old granddaughter went to a summer camp 3 years ago and some PETA jerks showed videos of a slaughter house and the poor practises used in some of them. Now she won't even eat meat! She only got the tree hugger, PC, PETA version of animals and food. Really __$$ed me off!

Sorry to hear about that. One of my daughters favorite shows is Animal Planet. Naturally PETA is a big sponsor and she often tells me a story that we have to discuss at length because they throw the wrong slant on it. Right now she says she would like to be an animal biologist or a animal behaviorist. Who knows what she will end up doing but the girl is crazy about animals. Fortunately, she also sees that hunting and conservation efforts by hunters go hand in hand with balancing nature and caring for animals. I was also proud of her because even though we didnt see a buck, she let 3 yearlings walk even though I had told her it was up to her to shoot whatever she felt she could get. She waited and her patience paid of, this doe weight right at 150 on the hoof.

I am only 43 and plan to still be moving in 25 yrs. Good Lord Willing, I will be sure to do my part as long as its still legal and maybe if it aint!
