The other day an older gent originally from Pennsylvania walked into my local gun shop.He had an absolutely BEAUTIFUL model 1894 in .30WCF with 26" octagon barrel that he wanted to sell. This rifle looked absolutely brand new but you could tell it was an older one with the curved crescent steel buttplate and the look of the wood. The serial number research showed a manufacture date of 1919.I've seen some pretty older rifles but this one was fantastic. The blueing was like new but you could tell that it wasn't.He allowed that he had in the past fired it a few times but you sure couldn't tell it had ever been fired. The shop owner finally reached a price with the man and it was purchased and placed in the shop owner's personal safe.It is gratifying to me to see such an obviously well kept rifle.

Stan, I can't believe you didn't buy it. An original '94 in that condition is rare as hen's teeth. If I'd a been there, I'd have reached for my wallet so fast that I'd probably have torn my back pocket right off getting it out fast enough and quite possibly dislocated my shoulder with the speed of the reaction .... possibly torn a couple ligaments too.
