Ahhhh for investigating. I have a rossi Mod 92, shoots straight for at leat 20 yards but is butt ugly stained stock. (it will be replaced with black walnut. like my marlin.) the kicker is that when I stiripped the wood and went to put the front hand guard on, guess what. the screw that holds the barrel band on is too short and never made it all the way to the other side of the band. they just screwed it into the wood and left it at that.
Sooooooo, question. are the screws on a rossie metric. My solution is drill and retap the band to 6-32, any suggestions appreciated.
screwd in, or not

The screw will be metric. Just retap to an US standard size and use a screw that will fit. M 92-94 ?

Re: screwd in, or not
The only thing is, for future owners/kids whoever, if you have a gun with ONE "metric" screw, you tend to assume they're ALL metric, and vice versa, so personally, since all the OTHER screws on the gun will be metric, if possible, I'd use a metric replacement. Most hardware stores have a wide selection of metric stuff, and for a forend screw, it isn't like it has to be specially strong heat-treated stuff. A hand file or dremel tool to re-shape the head, if needed, and some cold blue (or buy a stainless metric screw if the gun is metric).
