I plan on taking this out the next time I get some range time but I've never had an inline BP before.
Using the Pyrodex/777 pellets, do I have to crush them when seating everything? I know they crush when I seat them in my c&b revolvers but I don't know on the rifles. I would imagine so.
IIRC it's a 1-28" twist. That rules out round balls but can I shoot lead/ww conicals in it or just the sabots and power belt rounds?

NO - just push the bullet down until it is seated on them. Use good pressure but DON'T try to crush them. I drop the pellets in, then insert the ramrod and make a mark on it when it meet the muzzle. Add the length of the bullet and make another mark on the rod so you know if you are close when you load the pellets and push the bullet down. I was using 777 in 50gr pellets but recently switched to 777 Magnum, which requires 2 pellets for 150 gr eq. instead of 3. The 777 Mag gave me more accuracy and velocity than 3 of the regular 777 pellets. FWIW.
I've been using the Kodiak and Optima since each hit the market (formerly on CVA's pro staff) 50 Cal. They both were great with 245gr Powerbelt bullets. For whatever reason they prefer the medium to light bullet weights. Switching from T7 to T7Mag pellets, the guns now prefer 290 and 300gr bullets. The Spitfire MZ's shoot right at 2000 fps and group into 1 1/2 inches at 100 yds off bench with scope a 9X. Thats as good or better than a lot of my centerfire rifles! Good Luck!
