Hello, I have a Winchester Trapper 30-30 that I purchased a few years back. It is an AE non cross bolt safety, NIB at the time I purchased it. Unfortunately I never fired the rifle until last weekend, and it will not cycle shells. The rounds will come out of the magazine, and get lifted at an odd angle that crams the cartridge into the chamber, jamming the weapon. I took it to a gunsmith and he told me it needed a new lever and lifter.
My questions are will standard 94 parts fit the Trapper model? Or does anyone know where I can find the parts or perhaps a gunsmith specializing in fixing 94s?
Thanks,
RD

Yes, the parts you mentioned will interchange. You will more than likely not need a new lever.
Another thing is to make sure you're using the correct ammo and to try a different brand.
If you are using the correct ammo, the best thing to do is to take pictures of the inside of the receiver showing us the internals, as well as one with a shell on the lifter. This way we may be able to tell you the problem.
I've never heard of this before except with the wrong type of ammo, and there aren't too many things that can cause the problem you're mentioning.
A reversed cartridge guide, wrong cartridge guides, wrong carrier installed are really the only things I can think of that could cause the problem

...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

RD,
Step 1: Take it apart and clean it good. Get all the factory lube and junk out of it. Lube it lightly when you reassemble it. Make sure all the screws especially the carrier spring is tight.
Step 2: Try it again. 94s when new are typically stiff and you may need to work the action with authority. I don't mean to say you need to work the lever so fast it beats the gun to death, but a sure positive down to the end and back to closed stroke on the lever.
Any factory 30-30 cartridge should function in that rifle. It shouldn't matter what brand you use.
If cleaning it does not do the trick, and it was a NIB gun until a few weeks ago I'd suggest calling the factory. They still service these guns.

These things are not rocket science. And I doubt very much it needs new parts. I suspect that gun butcher was trying to get into your wallet.

I used a light bullet and hence short overall length and;
When I ***** footed the lever sometimes.
