They always looked like a miniature of the 1881 Marlin. You can definitely see the Burgess influence in both guns with the frame shape, and sliding loading gate.

Not knowing much about the Colt Burgess rifles, to me it looks like a sturdy well designed gun.
Does it have faults? If not, would it be hard or too expensive to reproduce perhaps in Italy?
Seeing how many fine old designs are recreated there, I think that one would find a market if it was priced right and reliable.

The story to that gun as I understand, colt came out with that lever, then winchester came out with a very nice single action revolover. Kind of a warning to stay out of each others territory. I dont know if it was a offical agreement or not, but it worked! Colt quit building levers and winchester stayed out of handguns.

Not a bad Burgess, but IMNSHO he is too high at $4495. That gun should sell for more like $28-3200. They are NOT as scarce as some would believe.

Speaking as someone who has been one of the "DOG's" consignees, the BIN price is set by the seller. It's still a "no reserve" auction.
