I forgot the post with this,a friend gave this ammo to me a while back it was given to him by an old widow from his church and he wanted me to have it. How old are these boxes? Our rifle season opens Saturday and one of my old 30wcf's will go with me, probably the 1941.

They look to be in good shape. Go kill a deer.

I believe the Super Speed "Red W" boxes are from the 1960's, but can't swear to it. They should work fine if stored well (and they look it!) I'm sure one of our members can pin it down a little closer for you, but am pretty sure that's correct.

Good luck in your hunting!

I have 3-boxes of .30-30 170gr Silver Tip bullets left. They are in white boxes and were purchased in about 1982. They expand nicely but aren't particularly more accurate than the Winchester Super X bullets I buy now.

JerryB,

Those boxes date from 1960 to 1973 after which, Winchester changed the box color to white for a time, as Modoc Ed indicated.
Hard to believe that they are almost 50 years old(!). Neat find.

w30wcf, thank's for confirming Modoc Ed's dates. I was really suprised to get them and five boxes are like new. I have thought of putting them away in an ammo can but then I couldn't enjoy looking at them, probably just take good care of them for my grandson.
