OT- Horses - Mare and colt are fine! - PICS
For those that temember, back in May, I reported that our Welsh Pony mare, Breezy (can not remember formal registered name) stepped on a nail and it pierced her coffin bone. This was only days after she had this foal, Doppler(Lakewoods Storm Warning).
After more than two weeks at the vet clinic and one month in a dry stall with frequent medicated bandage changes, she made a full recovery and is finally gaining back some of her weight lost nursing Doppler. Here they are this weekend grazing on new Rye. We plan to breed her again in early 2009.
Doppler is almost as tall as his mommy and just about ready to put up for sale. His lineage, confirmation, personality, and spirit are such that we plan to offer him as a likely show and competition stallion. It will soon be time for pictures and posting for sale.
Wish us luck, as we really do not want to geld this little guy and could not handle a mature stallion on our little place.
PS Thanks for all the well wishes and foot doctoring tips from the horse folk on this forum.

Glad to hear that mother & offspring are fine.
Wish you well in future endeavors.

Those are some pretty horses. Glad all turned out well for you.

Good on ya! I KNOW just how tough it is to treat such injuries.

Good news indeed. Some do not recover from that.
Nice looking colt to.
I'm expecting 4 new foals this spring myself.

Fine looking animals. I wish there were more Welsh ponies around. I think they're much better than Shetlands.

Rod;
I agree with you WRT Shetland and Welsh ponies, but there are some good ones around. My daughter runs Lakewood Farms Welsh Ponies, but she has also sold some Shetlands for folks. She will take orders for any ponies and locate them, sell them, and make a few bucks on the deal while making both seller and buyer happy.
