Soft Uberti 76 screws?

Post by 1886 »

I have read that some feel the factory screws in the Uberti 76 are of soft steel. Can anyone shed some light on this subject? If so exactly which screws and are better screws available and from whom? Thanks, 1886.

I have found most of the Italian screws are a bit soft and it don't help that they have a Gorilla that tightens them up before they leave the factory.

The main reason I gave up on my Uberti 73 .22lr was the Screws were boogered and I could not find a replacement set other than Italian made.

I believe you can however get U.S. made screws for Uberti guns over there.

The screws on my Chapparal 1876 are fine. That gun is assembled here in the US from Italian parts. You may be able to buy parts from them that would fit your Uberti.

coyote nose I found the Chaparral 1876 to use the same screw set for the tang sight as an origional Winchester. They are not metric! I e-mailed Chaparral when I was searching for screws to mount a Marbles tang sight and got a return e-mail directly from the factory in Bresica Italy (on Sunday). They said that the screws were US thread and that they mount Marbles on them all the time.

The Midway # for the screw set is 228273 , Marbles # 995019 they also fit origional 1876 and 1886 rifles. :D

PS, thanks 1886 , I did have that link, just did not recognise it. :D
