question for Joe Miller

Post by mescalero1 »

Joe,
Going to have to go back to N.M. to dig the trench for the power line for my uncle's windmill.
Well, that is cattle country and there is always some cowboy with woman trouble,DUI, whatever social ill that is plagueing us.
Usually the first thing to go is the Winchester or that extra saddle.
What is the pre 64 serial number cutoff for 1894 winchesters?
So I know a good deal when I see it.
All the 92's are good to go.

mescalero,

Here is a chart I got from OD:
Winchester 1894/94 time lines. By OD on Leverguns .com

1894s- Oct. 20, 1894 to approximately serial #950,000, late 1924 when Winchester removed the 1 & 8 from the stamping die, they then officially became the Model '94.

Pre-wars-1924 to 1943, approximately serial #950,000 to #1,350,000.

Flatbands- approximately -1943 to 1949, just after serial #1,317,450 to approximately #1,550,000

Pre-64s- 1949 to 1964, just after serial #1,550,000 to serial #2,600,011, reportedly the last pre-64 Model 94.
Hope this helps some.

Joe

Last year at the Phoenix January Gun Show I saw a brand new Colt Lightning in 44-40 that still had the hang tag.

It was found in a storage room from one of the Trading Post on the Rez.

Lots of nice toys can be found in the Four Corners area.

mescalero1,

Wow, I wish I was there and had money too. There's one particular vintage and style of 1894 Win I want to find.

Let me know if you find a turn of the century (last) 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine in 30WCF. Oh, for cheep.

I know, I'm fantasizing.
