Finally got my Win94 Trapper back from a complete refinish

Post by meanc »

After seeing a Winchester 94 44mag Trapper that came from the factory with a brushed chrome finish, I immediately wanted one just like it. Here's a link showing it http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =105654231

It just so happened that I had a perfect candidate to get it done on. It's a Win 94 Trapper 44mag that was slightly neglected (ie. light pitting on rcvr & barrel) when I picked it up about 9 years ago.

This has been my favorite carry lever since I got it and figured what better way to make it like new again and keep it well protected from the elements.

So I polished the few specks of pitting down flat and sent it off to Mahovsky's for their brushed satin Metalife finish. I've had four other firearms plated in the same finish by them and have been nothing less than impressed each time. http://www.mahovskysmetalife.com/

The picture doesn't do it justice, but it has a beautiful satin finish that is not too dull and not too shiny. And the action is just as smooth as when I sent it off.

That's a good looking durable finish. Good idea.

Very nice, did they do all the breakdown and plateting or did you have to break it down and send it in pieces? I would also like to know aproxx the price of the plateing? By pm if you do not want to post it. I have a 9422 mag that has a lot of blue missing when i got it and might be a candidate for a dress up.

The only thing I did was to remove the buttstock. They did the rest.

Every part, inside and out (except bore, inside the mag tube, sights) was plated.

Cost was $185 total.

$15 shipping Priority Mail to them and $169 back to my door.
