NonPolitical or Fishing OT EAA Tanfoglio Firearms

Post by Idiot »

Warning: This is a non-political devoid of fishing off topic subject (NPDFOTS). All those alergic to such topics or who are otherwise just whiney, please ignore this post.

I'm thinking of buying a EAA Witness chambered in 10MM Auto. The Witness is a CZ-75 clone. I like the orginal CZ-75s that I've shot. The Witness is made by Tanfoglio of Italy. This company makes a lot of carbon copy guns that, I think, are of sound quality.

Are any of you guys familiar with these firearms and the manufacturer? Would you please let me know what you think of them, or what your experiences may be regarding them. Thanks.

I am not familar with 10mm auto, but I have shot 2 in 9mm.
I found them to be ergonomiclly correct, shot well with them, & easy to get used to.

I believe the original Bren Ten was based on the CZ-75 design and was spoken highly of by Colonel Jeff Cooper. Would make a fun pig pistol. :D

I had a Tanfoglio TA-90 in 9mm back in the early 80s that was a fine shooter, unfortunately it got traded for a 9mm Firestar as I wanted something more concealable. In 1999 I got a EAA Witness Carry Comp in 45acp that was made by Tanfoglio. I still have that pistol. It has been a good pistol through 1000s of rounds. It still shoots great, is quite accurate, and fits the hand quite well though the safety is a bit of a chore for my small hands. I carried it for a while as deputy sheriff but switched to a 1911. At one time I was contemplating getting a 10mm upper for it but I'm now thinking of selling it to get something else. My cousin has a Baby Eagle in 40s&w made by them that I've shot quite a bit too. It's also a great shooter. My experience with the Tangfoglio pistols of the CZ-75/90 series has been first rate.

The only thing I would warn you about is the magazines by other manufacturers made for these pistols.
One word: "Don't".
IME get the Tangfoglio mags and all is well, the other makers, not so much.

I have a TZ-75 from the mid-80's and I love the pistol. Fit and finish are quality; feeds every kind of ammo with no hiccups; great trigger; and has been a reliable, accurate shooter. Couldn't ask for more.

Thanks for the input gentlemen.

I'm going to take a closer look at these firearms. The 10MM Auto is a good cartridge and I'd like to own steel handgun to shoot it out of. Again, thanks.

I've owned one of the Witness polymers before in .38 Super, fine handguns. As I understand it the TZ75 is a derivative of the CZ75 which is a derivative of the venerable BHP.

Most of the EAA line has a .22 adapter available and I believe any of the steel frame versions will accept other caliber conversions put out by EAA as well. It may be all of the full sized versions not just the steel frames though, I'd certainly ask.

One of my hunting buddy's has an E.A.A. in 10mm It is a real fun gun to shoot and Seems to be very accurate. My only problem with it is that it isn't fond of the 175 grain winchester silvertips, I am very fond of the silvertip so that is why it gets a demerit. It dose shoot the hornady xtp loads very well though. I am partial to 1911's and glocks (I know, it's wierd) so for 10mm's I like the delta elite and the G20. I do think that you will like the E.A.A. though :D
Break on through to the other side!!!
