that ticks all the boxes a 44 Mag with a 1:20 barrel !!!!! !! !!

That's about all I'd need, unless I'd need a 454 Casull 1894.
A great rifle

I still say more people like all of us should be hounding Ruger, Henry, Browning, and now S&W for the -20 cartridges! Then if more folks found the joys of 25-20 & 32-20 , heck even the -40s , more ammo and brass would be produced.

The ones I have seen look nice. "Brown recoil pad for hard recoiling Magnum loads"???? Huh??? Mine was made in 1984 and has the black plastic buttplate and I have never shot any 44 Magnum load that I even noticed recoil on. Now, my 444, 45/70, 50 Alaskan and 50-110 are a different matter.

.
Agree on the "-20" cartridges.

Would like 45 Colt too...

I picked up a new one in 44 Mag yesterday. She shoots a mite low, will see if they'll send me a shorter front. It shot great groups at 30 yards with everything from 240gr to 305gr, and made easy work of my silhouette target at 100 yards. I have one other 1894, a 32-20, and it is a tack driver with my cast 115gr bullets and AA9. Would love to see one in 38-40.

I recently had the opportunity to handle a new 1894 Classic in 357. A sample of one I know but looking it over I was favorably impressed. I would still like to have a 357 lever gun. The new 1894 is high on my 'want' list.

I have a couple of 1894 Cowboy Limited leverguns. The one in .45 Colt is a JM with a 24" barrel, the other is one of the dreaded post JM models in .44 mag. The fit and finish of the .44 mag is fine but after I bought it new 7 years ago, I looked down the barrel and observed extreme tool "chatter marks" extending for about 4 inches a few inches from the breech. I sent it back to Marlin before firing it and they returned it a couple of weeks later, presumeably with a new barrel. I have shot it fairly extensively since then and have had no further issues with it. I love those octagonal barrels. I have Skinner peep sights on both of them.
