I lost my willie
I lost a dear friend yesterday. We had over 20 years and hundreds of miles together. Sad day.

I am sorry to hear that. I understand. When you've had many miles together and learned to listen to each other .. and now they are gone .. life seems empty. Keep the memories of the good times!

Losing a dog is a very hard thing, but you can have a horse for half your life.

My heart goes out to you. Funny how losing a pet is sometimes more painful than losing a human family member! Well that might be just me

He was an abused horse. I took him to keep the owner from shooting him and we bonded. It took 2 years before he would let me ride him or catch him loose in the field. I am, literally, the only person who could handle him. My wife was terrified of him but we were buds and I darn sure am gonna miss him

Sorry to hear that you lost a faithful friend, we had to put a mare down just before my son was born but I was pleased to see the mare went down as quick as lightning.
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

Very, very sorry for your loss. I have never lost a horse, but I have suffered through the loss of many other four legged friends.
People sometimes refer to animals as being 'dumb.' If 'dumb' leads to showing unfailing loyalty, unwavering love, and a dedication to please those they hold most important, then I hope we all can be blessed with a little less intelligence in our lives.

You did a wonderful thing saving him....he in turn recognized it and did wonderful things for you. A type of bond that is very rare indeed. I believe we will see our lost family members again....both human and non-human who give us unconditional love......
