If you ever wanted a suppressor
Now might be the time.
My approval came back in 14 days. I have heard of applications being approved in four days.

Yes, I was surprised. But I submitted on February 14 and was approved on February 28.
Trusts are taking much longer than individual applications.

Scott , when you say Trust. Do you mean the suppressor company itself ?

Scott, what are you going to use as a host? What is your intended use. Just curious as to what others use theirs for. Thanks,
Paul

A 'NFA Trust' is when you create a group (family, business, etc.) that has possession of, and may use and transport, the suppressor or other NFA item. It was designed for businesses but families also can use it so members may share a suppressor.
Of course because it makes things easier for the lab-abiding types, the ATF wants to make it less easy to do a trust, but lawyers who are familiar with the paperwork seem to be able to get them approved.

Paul,
I own a number of suppressors. This particular one will be used on a little bolt action.300 Blackout. I reckon I’ll shoot whatever from hogs to deer to varmints with it.

Re: If you ever wanted a suppressor

I've been real happy with what started out as a 'Mystic' suppressor from LibertyCans, and they allowed a core upgrade to the 'Infiniti' which is capable of up to 300 Win Mag pressure levels - in a take-apart [easily cleaned] can.
That is helpful if you shoot cast-lead, which I do in my threaded 357 Mag 1894.
It is titanium so lightweight. Costly but when you can use it for several weapons it ultimately saves money.
A dedicated 22 LR ultra-lightweight can (or integrally suppressed barrel) is a good idea, and a dedicated 223 can for a 'primary defense weapon' makes sense to just leave on the firearm at all times.

Cool. I have a set of finger print cards on my desk waiting to go down to the PD and get them done. Again. ATF "lost" the first application and I have to start all over again.

Re: If you ever wanted a suppressor
My FFL/ Class 3 guy has been doing the same with excellent results. As soon as I have the time, I'll get down there and get it done. The local PD is gun friendly and some good people. Last time I was there, the detective wanted to know some of the details about the suppressor I'd bought. Sounded like he was going to get one for himself.

14 days?!?
You must have dirt on the ATF. Or living right. Or just lucky!!!
My last one took a full 9 months!
Scott, when you submitted electronically, did you go through a kiosk like the Silencer Shop ones?

Re: If you ever wanted a suppressor
Scott, you are correct ATF has been under fire for its leadership and has had its funding cut at the same time ORDERED to decrease the time for form 4s. I have had to wait as long as 1.5 years for one form 4. Let's hope it continues.

Re: If you ever wanted a suppressor
As you all know in the UK suppressors/moderators/silencers have always been legal but had to be listed on the firearms certificate, the government are now talking about not even bothering to have them listed... I am shocked that the UK government is thinking of doing something useful for gun owners.

Re: If you ever wanted a suppressor
I don’t even understand why suppressors are regulated in the United States
Re: If you ever wanted a suppressor
I’ve got three at present and that’s probably two more than I need . I’ve got a 30 cal can on my 260 HB , I’ve got a 33 can on a Savage Hog Hunter in 338 Federal and last and surely least I have a 22 can on a Ruger customized 10/22 . The only I even close to having a “NEED” for is the 30 cal can on my 260 . Doubt I ever even entertain the idea of purchasing a 4th .

Re: If you ever wanted a suppressor
It is a dumb of an idea as banning car mufflers. No one in their right mind would want to endure the noise of such cars (okay, maybe some kids). Why shouldn't we all be just as considerate with the noise coming from firearms?gamekeeper wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 8:12 am As you all know in the UK suppressors/moderators/silencers have always been legal but had to be listed on the firearms certificate, the government are now talking about not even bothering to have them listed... I guess it is because too many politicians and the public actually believe suppressors are as quiet as they are portrayed as being in movies and television.

Re: If you ever wanted a suppressor
I've been waiting almost 2 years for one of the suppressor makers to tell me they've got the suppressor I ordered, and supposedly they'll do the paperwork. Now I think I better just find another company that doesn't do the paperwork, and order from them instead.

Re: If you ever wanted a suppressor
I was in another shop yesterday and they told me that they had a three day approval on a suppressor.
So suppressors are moving off the shelves much faster now and it is encouraging more people to purchase them.
