Post by rjohns94 »

I went today to see an amazing exhibit. you can see more about it here: http://www.ourbodytheuniversewithin.com/

I have no idea how this was done but I have to tell you it was the most amazing exhibit I have ever seen. If it comes to your area, it is a must see!!!!!

Man, that thing was in Hot Springs AR today!!! If I would have known that I would have drove down to see it.

On a side note, that is the single most creepiest thing I have ever seen. I would love to see it.

Saw it in Pittsburgh at the Carnegie Science Center last January. Truly excellent, an absolute must-see.

I remember reading about this when the exhibit was put together. They used "bodies donated to science". Cadavers.

I think its kind of morbid that people would take their children to see dead bodies. Preserved or not its just creepy to me.

IIRC, they take donated bodies, and add resins to the structure to preserve them. Charlotte has had a display of this for a while at the Discovery Place. May be too much for real little kids, but I don't think it hurts to so older children the complexities of the human body. To me, it reinforces that God created all life and everything else - just too complex for any other explanation to fit.

This was in my area last year. IIRC the bodies are Chinese ... where the word "donated" is sometimes confused with the word for executed political prisoner.
... I love poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking dead things with a stick.

I've seen the show once in Dallas and once in Las Vegas. It is very interesting, the bodies are lifelike enough to be a bit creepy at first, but it is a good anatomy lesson. Different bodies are prepared to show different things- muscles, circulatory system, digestive system, reproductive system, etc. They have separate displays of just certain organs, and they had some displays where they had pumped the resins through the blood vessels and then removed everything BUT the resins, so you could see the complexity of the system. I didn't think it was morbid or disrespectful, but it is a museum-type display and very informative. The only problem I had with the show was that it is hard to absorb all of it in a limited period of time.

Took my 13yo daughter last year to see it at the museum here in Tampa.

It was amazing to say the least.

I admit, I would never imagine that some of the things I saw were possible.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

Is this modern work, or the work a doctor did about a hundred years ago? That work was on TV a while back.
