Just leaving our valley a 'neighbor' stopped to say hi.

I've been searching for him the last 5 weeks! Still have a few more...

They're wandering around our valley all the time. Sort of a nuisance. This guy is from a few years back and he camped out across the street for about a week. They can be a pain sometimes as the kids want to go over and pet them but they're too dangerous.

They tried stocking elk in the east back in 50-60's between farmers crops being destroyed and disease from whitetail last ones died out in late 70's . As of late they are coming up from Kentucky and Cherokee NC .Just a matter of time .

Steve,
That kinda looks like Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone NP.
You can teach the kids to stay away, not so much with the tourists.

Yep, outside our valley is open space and it finally dried out this fall so it does remind one of Yellowstone.
We're not worried about most kids that have lived here for a while but we have some new families and new kids and the truth is that some of the parents are unprepared for all the wildlife wondering around the neighborhood and haven't thought of teaching their youngsters not to pester them.

Re: Went For a Drive In the Mountains Over the Weekend. . .
there was a new clip of an antlerless moose bedded down like that elk next to a university walk way in Anchorage. Man walked past, up to the entrance door, and the moose got up and stomped the man to death is a few seconds. The whole thing was caught on camera and the man ignored the moose and walked past like it was a statue. Is that what hurt the moose's feelings? Or was it the cologne? OR was a hamass moose? Nobody knows. But people who live among urban animals seem incautious about them.
