and ended up with around 600 empties! I ran them in the case cleaner ..
Then I began reloading them.
Using my cast 158 gr. SWC lubed with Apache Blue .. lubed these weigh 162 grains.
I am loading them with 3.0 gr. of Bullseye. This is a nice .38 Special load that has always proven accurate for me.
This is "recycling" at its best!
And then sized, deprimed, neck expanded and primed them all. So I shot up all the mixed powder charged ammo ....

But Jim to be a true recycler did you dig all your bullets out of the berm and recast them? what's more fun than shooting a bunch of 38 special... besides a 22?
I recently opened a GI 30 cal can and found 150 38 specials loaded with wad cutters I had forgotten about, along with them were 22s, 308s , 223 and in another can were 450 Bushmaster, more 22s, a 22mag magazine for my 10/22 mag and 300 22mags!

I used to do that! But with these I gathered up a bunch of scrap iron on the place here and took it to the metal recyclers, then swapped it for a bunch of lead they had.GunnyMack wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 2:11 pm But Jim to be a true recycler did you dig all your bullets out of the berm and recast them? what's more fun than shooting a bunch of 38 special... besides a 22?

That counts!

I usually go with 3.5 if loading 158's with Bullseye for two reasons. First, it comes out to an even 2000 rounds to a pound of powder, which works with my reloading OCD. Second (but not least) I think that I recall Terry Murbach saying that 3.5 with a 158 was more accurate than 3.0 and I believe him - not that my average shooting would prove it.
