The REAL Colour Sergeant Bourne

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Senior NCO, B Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot at Rourke's Drift on the Buffalo River, Natal Province, 22-23 January 1879.
A marvelous example of a Victorian soldier if there ever was one ...

Darn you Bill! Since I read this, and watched the video earlier today I have been skipping all over The History Chaps YouTube channel watching his videos. Most of the incidents he discusses I had a nodding familarity with. But he bbrings in more depth and does it in a very entertaining style.

So thanks for the post. It will take a while, but eventually I'll get through all of his videos.

Interesting video thanks for sharing Bill.
Colour Sergeant Bourne may have met my uncle James Pritchard who was in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers during the 1st world war sadly he was killed in March 1918, my mother told me that he was an expert marksman.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
