I think I'll break out the Unique, some nice Berrys 200 grn plated RN bullets I also use in my 1911, open up a brick of WLP primers, dump some Win brass into my 750's Casefeeder and crank out some fun times. With my recent good fortune selling scrap brass, I won't feel bad consuming 1K of components for my leverguns to use. I'm going to go with 9.1 grns of Unique with my 200 grn Berrys (9.8 grns is max) as both my leverguns seem to really like that load.
I already have a ton of .357 Mag. ammo I made up earlier this year but I'm down down to my last 300 rds of .45 Colt and they are all 255 grn which I'd rather use for something other than plinking at the range. So, it's a perfect time to crank out some 200 grn loads. Besides, I'm in my happy place when I'm handloading. Its one of the most relaxing things I can do as it keeps my hands busy and my mind relaxed as I go through the process.
I must admit that it also really satisfies my 'cheap button' as well. I've looked over the current prices of 200 grn .45 Colt. Most all of it for sale is the weak Cowboy Action lead bullet loads and finding anything close to decent power and plated or jacketed is going to cost you over 95¢ per rd on the web plus shipping. No one locally has anything but cowboy loads in .45 Colt and prices are $1.00 - $1.50 per round!
I've got a considerable stash of components and I'm able to make a few thousand of my 200 grn .45 Colt using Berry's plated bullets, Unique powder, WLP primers and my Win brass for a fraction of the web pricing. And my load is a great one for shooting out at 200 yds at my range or up in the Rockies hunting those dreaded and dangerous pine cones.
