Added rare one to 375 collection

Post by TedH »

I recently stumbled onto a Savage 99, 375 Winchester and couldn't resist adding it to my collection of 375's.
It's in phenomenal condition. Doubt you'd ever find a nicer one. The only rifle factory chambered in 375 Winchester that I'm needing to round out the pile is the Valmet 412 O/U double rifle. Of course also the hardest to find.

It's an extra set that I bought off ebay to customize. Saved the original set so my heirs can sell it all together.

Cool!
There was a No.1 at a recent show for $550. Once I realized what it was, it was gone before I got back to the guy's table.

Have fun!!

THATS how to buy guns..well done Ted…….odd calibers in quality guns are better than money in the bank……..a few years back I picked up a Savage in 358 for 5….It was like new so I didn’t want to shoot it until the cows come home so I posted it here for 12 last year but because no one likes me, they didn’t buy it.

Took it to the auction house towards the end of last year and got 2 big ones for it…..😀. 🤪. ……——-006.

I thought so ! The wood just didn't look like factory wood.
Now we need a range report for the 99. :D

I’ve always thought that would be the ideal deer/black bear gun.

That's a neat one, I've never run across one in real life. I did foolishly pass up a Marlin 375 for not too much few years back, another what-was-I-thinking moment.

I do have a No.3 but it was used by a guide in Idaho before it came to me, exceptional shooter but somewhat compromised in the looks department.

My local shop has a Winchester Big Bore like yours in about 90% condition for $1,050.00.
KTP had a few boxes of 375 on the shelf!
Nice collection!

The way I look at that is that your Faithful Friends here on the forum wound up saving you $800, so you need to pick out a $750 gun of yours and we all draw straws for it. That way you'll still be ahead 50 bucks.... :D

Sure thing Doc….it don’t bother me a bit as the stuff I have is easier to sell than a cold beer in the middle of the desert.

If I have several nice guns at an auction I’ll go up there and watch the potential buyers look over my stuff, their eyes bulging out and their mouths going a mile a minute and when the auction starts they make sure the auctioneer sees them bidding by pointing their hands high with a white piece of paper and sometimes standing up hollering “yea!” 🤩

$50 for all of that aggravation? Man, I don’t have time for that chump change. I want the real loot…..💲💲💲

I offered one member here a 25-20 Marlin with the box for a grand and then put it up in the classified for 12………it’ll go for 16.
