Nice fox I called in. Shot it with a Marlin Model 94 in .32-20. Was packing a long barreled .44 Magnum also.

Very cool Jim……..I believe that’s the first time I saw the “Master of the Master”……your Pops…….he has that “determined look”………..

What was that Ruger…a 10” FT? ……..a true “hunting & shooting family” you grew up with and continued with yours.

The 32-20……such a useful cartridge and I’m glad I caught on early with it, about 18 or 19 y.o………a knowledgeable person can do soooo much with a 32-20 …if he hand loads……

If you find that old 32-20, can I have it? I need one more to make an even dozen….your pal—-006

If you see Matt Olivier at the S.H. tell him I said Hi.

Been seeing Matt every day. He hurt his back and is limping around but it has not slowed him down much!

Thanks Jim…….is that Appaloosa still around? Mom (wife) wants it……..she said she is gonna send Old Win out there with his buffalo coat to steal it.

Heard there was a plane crash in the Superstitious Mountains……..yea, in your one book, it’s kind of hard to tell fact from fiction as you westerners play like only a few in the East do……you cause trouble, we shoot.

No, old Hud is long gone. He was the best hunting horse I had. He loved to hunt. When I was hunting on him, he knew what we were doing and would spot game for me. I learned to trust him in that regard. And he was great riding in bad country. He would put his head down and watch where he was putting his feet when riding in broken country.

Jim, my late Uncle Paul Doe was an eastern Oregon rancher, timberman and horseman. He loved his mules for packing into the Snake River Canyon, but in mountain country, he loved his Morgans for clear-headed work on rough terrain. Hud sure looks to me like he might have had some Morgan in him.

Don’t think Jim’s Appaloosa has any Morgan in him……our Morgans were short, stocky, and very muscular on the from end…big thick necks.

I love gray horses. That's the first gray App I recall seeing though. Thanks for sharing.
