A walk about with the legacy.
I went small game hunting with my 30-30 and had a grand time out.
Stalking tomorrow but today was a practice.
It was a ringnecks white ring that caught my eye.
50yards away in tall grass he was watching me.
I leveled up on him and fired. Bird down! Perfect neck shot. Next up was a big fat male squirrel. He came to check me out. It was windy today and he wasn't sure what we were. Big mistake. A 150gn reversed bullet cracked his noggin! Now the pheasant and the squirrel was good but the shot of the day was the crow! A 75 paces shot off hand, straight across the pinions! The above were shot with bullets unsuitable for 30-30 in a levergun on Alliant Herco but I'm slowly creeping up the charge cautiously to favour the sights but watching out for a spike in pressure. Today I tested a few on an increase of .3 of a grain. Better but I think I'll go a bit more.
The first went low so I raised the front sight for shot two but the wind blew on me as I fired so it went left. The next two landed on the target perfectly.
So there you go. Hope you enjoyed the walk with me

No I have been looking for rented accommodation, my landlord wants my place for a couple to work for him, so 3 months ago I was given 2 months notice to quit still here but have found a place in Somerset..Nath wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 3:02 pmHow come? There is no better small game bullet for a .30 rifle than a m-80 ball shot backwards.....

This rifle is growing on me!
Never did find deer after 6 hours plus stalking the woods. So before I set for home I switched to small game mode again.
12 yards rabbit. 60yd rooster, low neck.
Why aren't leverguns more popular? They just do it.
Good times.

Good stuff! I really like the look of that 94. I passed on one years ago in .357 M. for $350! Kicking myself ever since.
