Post by Bruce Scott »

The pistol is a High Standard Supermatic Citation, Serial # ML649xx

Any ideas, or knowledge of sites that may be able to help?

If it's a #102 Series Supermatic Citation pistol, it was made 1958-1960.

The #103's Supermatic Citation's were 1960-63.

The #104's Supermatic Citations were 1963-78.

The above are all slant grip auto's.

The #106 Supermatic Citation Military, w/a 1911-style grip, was from 1965-68.
The sides are now marked "Military".

You have a series 107 Military (1968-81), made after 1975, when they switched to the ML serial number prefix.

Your gun was made in the East Hartford, CT, plant - where they started with # ML25000 in 1977 and ended with #ML86641 in 1981.

A WAG would put your gun's manufacture @ about 1979-80, IMO.

Pete44ru,

Many thanks.

I am going to buy it online from a seller over east. It will be my first pistol outside the military (the Lahti I was chasing fell thru) and use will be limited to club shooting - the only way I can own a pistol here.

Here are pics. It is selling for $450 Australian.

On enlarging the pic I can see that it is actually marked 'Trophy'.

I shot several different HS pistols in those days, and saw other pistol competitors shoot theirs.

I can't recall that anyone had problems stemming from the pistols, as they were always accurate & dependable target pistols - an excellent choice & a good buy, Bruce !
