OT - Please help ID this bird

Post by cnjarvis »

I was standing in the kitchen last evening talking with the wife and the inlaws when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. When I turned to look outside I saw the strangest looking bird in the birdbath. I was hoping you guys could help me identify it...

It's a Scottish blackbird, usually found near human habitation.

That is the rare North American Mugwump. They set on a fence with their mug on one side and their wump on the other!

Well, given the location, I'd say he would've been swimming around in it if he could (hot hot hot). Summer has finally arrived in our area...

Good lookin pup BTW. We'v got two Welshe Terriers - great dogs! Scotties have a similar personality.

I've found that I really like Scotties, particularly for their personalities. Duncan is very docile with people. He's very friendly but fiercely independent and very protective of his family. He's taken on dogs much larger than him when he's felt that my daughter and I were being threatened. The neighbor's boxer is a good example. Easily 3x his size but I think Dunks could take 'im.

Yep, a terrier. Ours are the same - great with people :D - hard on other dogs.

That's one of them Bird Dogs.

Looks like a happy puppy. Our Dane has been sprawled accross the ceramic tile since the temp/humidity hit here and my old lab just doesn't move at all. Even with the air on!

Not sure of the actual name but there's no closed season on them here in Florida. They taste pretty good with rice and hot sauce. Heck, what am I saying... everything tastes good with rice and hot sauce.
