Probably was a Model 62 Marlin, which - at a cursory examination - could be taken for a Model 88 Winchester. The Marlin was the only rifle factory chambered for the .256 Winchester.

My father bought my brother one when they first came out.

He killed several nice Coues deer bucks with it in the Patagonia MTNS of S AZ, during our high school years.

My best memories of it was that it had a terrible bark for such a small cartridge.

In the Hornady reloading book volume 2 they say "It is perhaps most notable for the
speed with which it flopped" Speed or no speed it sure helped fill freezer back then.

I imagine they are some what of a collectors item these days.

good shooting

The Rifle Did look kinda strange, I guess I did not need another odd ball cartridge.
I did good passing it up, I hope....
But I feel kinda like a failure, Gun Show and no purchase...
