I used to donate blood. They made you fill out a questionnaire, they after you turned it in, then asked you the same questions vocally and you answered vocally. I asked regardless of my answers, is my blood still getting tested for every disease that can be harmful? they answered, yes. Then why do we have to fill out if we have to be asked again outloud where every one can hear you and blood still getting tested. I call bullcrup. they only need to know my name, address and blood type, period! (0+).

The agencies might ask, but they don't always test. A cousin who is Factor 8 hemophiliac ended up with HIV from donated blood out in Oregon.

Re: I tried donating blood today. Never again!
They are pinging me like crazy right now. I was eligible to donate again at the beginning of the month, but due to COVID, I need to wait until next week. I'm O+ too, so they need it (universal donor). I've been tempted to stop, because it takes 2-3 times longer than it should due to the repeated questions and general inefficiency, but I remind mindself that it is really needed.
Re: I tried donating blood today. Never again!
I have given over five gallons of blood over my lifetime. But, since COVID, they don't like it so much. As a Medical First Responder, I could be exposed to all kinds of nasty things. That never used to bother them, but it does now. After my last donation I got a letter saying the blood taken in my last draw had to be destroyed as it tested positive for Hepatitus exposure. Two months later, I got another letter saying they no longer use that test and they wanted me to come back. Not so sure I want to. It kind of ticks me off they destroyed my blood due to some obsolete test. (By the way, as an MFR I have been vaccinated to prevent Hepatitus A & B. But I don't doubt I might have been exposed.) I guess I just didn't like the attitude I perceived in the first letter, and the sweet as sugar attitude in the second.
