POLITICS- Poppy crackdown

Well looks like those poor poppy farmers are getting a little dose of reality in Afghanistan. Apperently they went through and destroyed a bunch of poppy crops therefore releiveing the farmers of the investment they had in them which left them with loans(from the drug scum) they couldn't pay. They were forced to pay off the loans with their daughters.

I saw the report on NBC News earlier and thought that they could have made a few points clearer. Like say that borrowing money from drug scum and paying them back with kids are both really bad ideas. And, that since the farmers made 100% of the choices they should recieve 100% of any/all consequences, not the kids.

This story reminds me of a really wise book that talked about heaping coals on one's lap while trying not to get burned....
