I got a chance to test some loads in the Hartford 20 inch .45 Colt today. My friend has a good place to shoot and a chronograph. The other day I loaded a box of 255grain swc with 8 grains of Unique, shot a couple at a limb on the ground then shot five rounds over the chrono.
Hard to believe but that is five shotswith 69 year old eyes.
I ain't real up on statistics but he gave this to me,average for five shots was 1069fps,43.4 ES, and 16.8 SD. Anyway it is one sweet shooting carbine. Now I want to order some 300 and 325 grain bullets to try.

We had the target set at 25 yards just to try the rifle and loads but when my friend shot at limb about 4 inches around at close to 80 yards he hit it twice. I was shooting from a rest too. It is just a real sweet shooting little carbine, slick action too.

Jerry, great to see that range report and I love the photos! That is one straight-shooting rifle! A model 92 carbine in 45 Colt is a sweet combination.

Nice rifle, great groups. But the real test will be when you run that target out to 100 yards. At that range you have to do everything right. The .45 Colt caliber rifles are very accurate, but I've found that the slow moving bullets seem to affected by every tiny little wiggle or change as you shoot it. And follow through has to be an obsession.
Having said all that I was regularly getting 2 to 2.5" groups with my 85 vintage Win 94AE Trapper at 100 yards. That was a long time ago though, wonder if I can still do that?
