Anybody see the lever Buff hunt on TV this morning?
They went old school, riding horses wearing sixguns and dusters The rifle he used was a Winchester 1894 in the greatest buffalo cartridge of all time.... the 30-30
They stalked to within 90 yrds and using semi-buckhorn sights fired. He was aiming six inches behind the horn . The Buff did a nose dive
No follow up shots needed! 2000 lbs of meat on the prairie. Like they say shot placement is everything!!
I missed it but would love to see it. If I see one more hunting segment with a(select one) TC Encore, Modern Inline or Bow, I am going pluck me eyeballs out!!!! Sounds like the old 30/30 did just fine. Why are they always tryinig to fix something that isn't broke?
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Was on Versus channel this am. Normal sunday line up of hunting shows. Was a great hunt. The Buff looked like he was a good 1800 #. It was a repeat show but none the less a good one. Tony Makrus (sp?) is the host of the show.

That sounds like my kinda hunt! The guy that sponsored me into one of my gun clubs is an old rich guy, and he just disgusts me when he talks about his buffalo "hunts". I don't think he stays outside the truck long enough to get cold. I just don't see the point to paying the price of a new truck to kill something in essentially the same manner you would at a feedlot. I sure as hell wouldn't call it hunting.
I prefer a hunt to last as long as possible. I don't even care whether I tag out or not. (I'm sure I'd care more if I had thousands invested in the hunt!) My ideal hunt would be in beautiful country with my kid, where I get to show him things most folks never get to see, horseback, from a drop camp, with a rifle I really like, tagging out in the last hour of the last day, and butchering my own meat by flashlight.

I always love seeing this when it comes on. I've seen it probably two or three times now. Just goes to show you the power of the old tirty-tirty.

I've stalked Buffalo (American Bison) on the ground dressed in buckskin and carrying a B/P Sharps. I've shot them with everything from a 30-30 to a 60 cal trade gun and I still hesitate to call it a HUNT. Buuffalo can jump like crazy, they can be mean and stomp and gore you but so can a long horn or a herford for that matter. Dropping a buffalo just isn't in the same class as sneaking upp on a white tail deer. But I know a lot of fellows who HUNT white tail deer and never ger out of their truck tooo. A hunt is what you make it I suppose.

Getting up at 10 a.m.,drinking coffee at the truck stop all afternoon, and complaining about the lack of game AIN'T HUNTING! I like to be there when the aminals wake up.
One of the coolest things I've ever seen was a pair of Elk calves with their mom, right after they were born. You don't get to see stuff like that when you're a camo commando, afraid to get out and get dirty and tired.
I despise the folks that are afraid to get too far from their thermos full of coffee and their warm pickup. If they only knew how rewarding it is to put in the work for their success, they'd be willing to sweat, but I guess some folks are just born worthless.
