My Son gave me a Competition Electronic's Prochrono Chronograph for my B-Day.
I have been borrowing a friends unit for years and always wanted my own.
Well yesterday was the day, and now we have one.
I set it on the bench this morning, installed the battery. Wishing I could test the unit in the reloading area, I came up with an Idea. the unit will measure from 22 to 7000fps.
I can verify that a spit ball, shot from a straw does 76fps.
Hey, the unit works. Now it's off to the range this coming week to test some loads.
Happy birthday to you. I never knew I needed a cronograph till I got one. Now I wonder how I got by without one.

Can ya chrono some rubber bands?
Band Spec = USPS supplied,

Could you give us a little more info on that spit ball load? Weight of the spit ball? Propellant? Barrel length?
This info could be of interest to some of us!
BTW, Happy B-Day.
"Spitball load & barrel specifications"
Spit ball weight: 2/10 grain (verified on a RCBS 10-10 scale)
Spit ball lube: Sam Adams Lager (verified by the Dog who smelled the lube, lifted his leg on my shoe and left the room)
Spit ball propellant: Lefty's hot Sam Adam's soaked B.S. Breath, exhaled with full lung capacity.
Spit ball barrel length: 8 7/8" ( white with yellow stripes)
Barrel pressure tested prior to load evaluation. (Verified by consuming two more bottles of Sam Adams)
I recall shooting spitballs from a bic pen in grade school. I got busted, of course. Back then it was a minor infraction. It had to have been minor since I don't remember the punishment. I wonder what punishment is levied these days for shooting spitballs? I recently got a chronograph too and what a great idea on testing it before I hit the range. THANKS for the idea.
BTW, happy Birthday, Lefty...
Regards,
I didn't fail the test, I just found 100 ways to do it wrong.
