POLITICS - Knives in Great Britain

Post by deerwhacker444 »

.
With the current rash of knife related killings occurring in GB, it's time to take the first logical steps......of course....and prosecute you for just carrying a knife.

BAN KNIVES

Unbelievable that people believe this will work. Next will be sticks, and then rocks.

shall possess the highest seats in Government,
our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots

The attack on knives has begun in the U.S.
They're Singing the same songs as the anti gunners. Check the knife association link http://www.akti.org/

I'm pretty sure knives are illegal in GB, at least anything pointy. They had a big amnesty turn in within the last couple years as I recall. Only childrens scissors and Outback Steakhouse knives are allowed as far as I can tell.

We have had stupid restrictions on knives for some time. To be street legal a pocket knife must have a blade of no more than three inches and must not lock. A Sikh in a turban and a Scotsman in a kilt can carry knives because of religion and tradition. We can carry what we like when hunting but don't try carrying your hunting knife in the pub on the way home or some over zealous copper will feel your collar.

Lots of areas in the US regulate knives, but I think it's usually at the local level, like cities or counties.

There are some state laws in CA about knives, they get into a long description of how they fold. The butterfly knives which open with no resistance are illegal, but knives that have some resistance upon opening (have a tendency to snap shut) are ok.

LA County has an interesting strategy, state law allows carrying of straight knife unconcealed. So they just outlaw carrying an UNconcealed knife over 3". But there are exceptions for recreation.

I was working over in England in 96. They locals had a cow about my Leatherman even back then. Security at the airport even made me take it out of my luggage and show them, when I was leaving. I whipped it open to the pliers and evidently (like most stupid security folks) they had never seen one before and didn't even realize that it had a knife blade  I was on my way. Pretty country with some nice folks but I was glad I was leaving.

Ha, that's good. Now which tartan do I wear today? Stewart, Livingston, Boggess, Nimmo, Pollock... and a couple I can't recall at the moment.

My Maternal Grandfather is a Buchanan. I've been to the ancestral grounds at Loch Lomond. I was only about 100 pounds short else I would have picked up a full Prince Charlie whilst I was there.

Unfortunately for me I have Campbell blood and my wife is a McNabb. I would NEED to be carrying a big knife if I walked around Scotland in those colors.

Now, the English might be kinder to me....

Seems to me more lives would be saved if they outlawed politicians! Heck, let's just outlaw having babies...that way no one will die...ever!

Come on you guys with Scotish blood, you know you would not be content with mere knives, you'd want Dirks, Sgian Dubhs and Claymores too!

Well, yes. But the question is WHICH Claymore to carry... the Great or the Basket Hilt...

The Dirk's a given. And the Sgian Dubh is grandfathered...
