OT - Finally got to go fishing!

Post by Dave »

Snuck off for a little fishing. We had mixed luck, but OK overall. Here are some of the fish we caught. We used chicken gizzards soaked in our top secret attractant. We carried a battered Marlin 336 in 35 Remington with us all the time since that's the kind of guys we are :D We saw 7 black bears Sat.

I'm thinking there's going to be a catfish dinner tonight!

Nice Cats, I haven't been catfish fishing in ages. We have 2 types- the Chinese "walking" catfish, and Channel Cats. The Chinese are tasty but they don't get much over a pound, and the state record Channels Cat was 42 pounds though I prefer smaller for eating. I think I'll soak some chicken livers too the next time I head to Lake Wilson for Peacock Bass.

Very nice - where's the gun??? Ate a lot of those when I was in Iowa. It's trout out here - not as good.

Here is a pic of it. It belongs to my buddy and has been thoroughly abused. The bore is pitted and it is pretty silver, but it is still a straight shooter. It looks a lot better in the pics than in real life  It has taken a huge number of deer including some real trophy deer and a bunch of hogs. There are some DEER around there!

I was holding it while my buddy took this pick. We had one momma bear start popping her teeth and woofing at us, so we accepted her invitation to leave.
