I just put an old remington model 12 on layaway, got it for $250.00 in nice shape, made in 1920.I would rather have a marlin 39 but around here they go for $350 or better.I was just wondering if some of you liked old pumps;they seem to have some of the appeal of leveactions;they have history, they handle well and they are light.the remington model 14 in 35 rem.cal. seems like a really neat, pretty rifle that sells cheap[$150.00 to $300.00]for a rifle nearly a hundred years old.If they are problem rifles please give me a dose of sanity as I have the "got to have one now blues"
I have a model 12. I've had it for 40 years and I will never part with it. I am always looking for a 14--14a--141. Around here they bring a premium price, buy I just keep looking. You will enjoy the model 12. Have fun.
I have seen 12s around here asking.... you won't believe this.... $1200. Yep, in .22 Rem Special. But .22 LRs were asking $800. I think you likely got a great deal!
I would like a 14 carbine. But I like the M8s and 81s, too. Apparently so does everyone else!
Sincerely,
Hobie

I own a Rem model 12-C which has the longer octogon barrel, I also own a 141 in 35 rem which is a nice woods gun. I have taken one elk with it. I did own and should not have sold it a Rem model 25 in 32-20. I do have some literature for the modle 25 if someone wants it.
Mine is a model 12 A in 22cal.I am still looking on the web for takedown instructions. For some odd reason I see a lot of great gun deals in this area, only problem is I seldom have the money.I depend on gun dealers that let me pay a little each month.By the way, there are 2 nice model 14s on gunbroker now for $300.00 and under.[4 days to go] P.S.in 35 cal.
I'm a 32 Rem. Md.14 short of 3 complete sets of all the factory offerings in the 14/141 models. and have spares in 30 and 35. I Have'nt seen in the past 5 years any for $150 or less, other than those that were in pieces and all the pieces weren't there.. I think these rifles are a lot more commonly seen east of the Mississippi compared to West of the Rockies, I've spent 45 years acquiring the ones I have, and just got the second 32 2 weeks ago.. But I have walked away from more parts guns than I've bought working examples....Nate
If I ever aquire a .30-30 it will be my Uncle's Savage Pump...

I have a very nice model 12-CS in Rem Spec that I use quite regularly and it is the best 22 pump-gun I have ever used. I get a lot of joy out of it untill I buy ammo-GEESH. It was made in 1915.
I have 12s, 14s and 25s and love them like my levers. Very fast shootin' and totally reliable.

No pump rifles right now, but I do have my father's Remington Model 10 12 gauge, a Pedersen-designed bottom ejecting take-down. He bought it in 1928 at The Sears Roebuck in Union City NJ. Wish I had a sawbuck for every duck he dropped with it...

I've got a Remington 760 made in Feb 1952 (first year and month of production) and another Remington 760 made in 1966. I also have a Remington 7600 made in 2005. All in .30-06.
Awkward in that I'll probably never get used to operating any rifle mechanism with my left hand. It's just not natural to me. I don't like pump shotguns for the same reason.
