Getting away for a week

Post by gundownunder »

Crack of dawn tomorrow I'm off to the state lever action titles in Kalgoorlie in the eastern goldfields, about 420 miles away.
A week of camping under the stars and getting together with a whole bunch of other lever nuts from all over Western Australia. Three days of shooting, plus practice time for a day or two beforehand.
This is an annual event and usually gets a turnout of 30 to 50 shooters, we shoot classic calibre on Saturday,(anything chambered in leveraction prior to 1936). Sunday, its the open shoot when the wannabe leverguns like Browning BLR can join in too. Monday its all about the revolvers.
Catch y'all in a week or so.
Bob

That sounds like a GREAT time!

Please send us an after (lever!) action report
with appropriate digital illustrations.

Good luck....

Good luck! Hope you've packed your long-johns, it can get pretty chilly on the goldfields this time of year - :D .

Hey y'all,
I'm back, had fun, the weather was great.
I forgot to get the camera off the missus so pics will need to wait till I get some from another source.
Generally I shot lousy, couldn't get used to the different light conditions up there and it caused problems for a number of people at different times of the day throughout the comp.
I ended up about two thirds of the way down the scoring table in each section of the comp.
Like Bruce said it can get bitterly cold out there in the goldfields but it was pleasant enough that I didn't even need to close the swag over the sleeping bag.

Glad you are back safely and, as we all often say, any day shooting is often better than any other day of anything else. Okay, almost anything else!
