I've got a package from Rugged Rob awaiting my arrival up north... I feel like a kid before Christmas, except I can't sneak over and rattle the package. He turns out some great leather for sure. I really like the look of that outfit.

Funny, I was expecting a cooked steak by the title.

Yeah. Nothing wrong with having a pan-seared and grill-finished filet while wearing fine gunleather.
Re: Wanna see some pretty dead cow?
That is some fine work. It is also just the way I set up a rig for a long barreled revolver, with the holster sitting on top of the belt as opposed to on a drop loop.
People were smarter before the Internet, or imbeciles were harder to notice.
Re: Wanna see some pretty dead cow?
The drop loop types do not seem to work for much other than Hollywood.

Otherwise you cannot sit down!!!
I'm having him do another holster and cartridge slide (only 6 rounds though) for my shorter .44 flattop. That way I can use the same belt.

Man that's pretty! Sure like the dark color. The guys at pig camp would turn green if I came strolling in with that rig.

I was wondering to what degree "pretty" is. Seems like pretty dead is all the way dead in this instance.

The farmer in me tells me that it's too bad you can't just "harvest" portions of a cow... I have an absolute love affair with things like horsehair riatas, hat bands, belts, and only "harvest" steers, or cows that have already replaced themselves...Scott Tschirhart wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 9:59 amI never even thought about it that way! LOL.
Every time I call Rob, I tell him that I need to order some more "dead cow."
Hmmm... why are they all called "cowhides"? Although the toughest pair of boots I ever owned were a pair of Tony Lama mule hide boots. I wore them thru 3 seasons of horseshoeing, and ten more years of ridin', ropin', and workin' a full time job on my feet, resoled them at least 5 times, and finally gave 'em to my B-I-L. He finally got rid of them when the foot became too full of welding splatter. They were 2" heeled riding boots, and as soft as french calf, which has got be only a quarter as thick; they only had one cut on them, from a fresh nail when horse stepped where my toes should have been, had I not curled them back; and even that was only a surface scratch really. I suppose they quit making them because they WERE so tough.
