Serial number is in the 26k range, the Ruger site puts it at 1959. Really nice shape and looks to have had very little use. There's what was probably an old fingerprint left on the right side of the frame that has discolored a bit and some wear here and there but not bad. Big plus is, that it hasn't been converted by the factory with a transfer bar.
There were some good deals at the Ohio Gun Collector's Show today. Lots of trophy Colts and Winchesters and other goodies. A real lack of EBRs but plenty of modern/ plastic pistols. Almost bought another '86 in .33 WCF with a full magazine and round barrel, but the Ruger caught my eye. There was a Navy Arms Rolling Block in .45-70 that someone had really done some nice custom work to but it was gone when I went back for it. No big deal, the Ruger had already made my day.

Very nice.
My Dad bought his first .44 Magnum about 1960 ... looked just like that.
Personally I like those better than any other model Ruger has made.
You did well.
Real nice jb congrats on getting it, i never had a flat top only one three screw but the next model.

Jason, it is gorgeous, and the perfect barrel length. That sixgun screams to be fed a big pile of Skeeter loads. Great find.

I have never fired one of the pre-transfer bar safety ones. I have heard that they have a better trigger pull.

I have two Old Models, this one I believe hasn't had much use and the action is a bit stiff. The trigger pull isn't really any different than a New Model Blackhawk and an SBH that I have that are about two years old. The Bowen SBH I have has been worked over and a great action and trigger. The best of the bunch is a .44 Vaquero that is super smooth and a trigger pull that has to be under 4 pounds. I don't know who did the work on that one, but I sure would like to.

Really nice looking Ruger, and a big plus it's not been converted!
I just got notice yesterday that our Oregon Arms Collectors monthly gun shows have gotten the state's approval to restart May 23rd! I'm so looking forward to a gun show, and the chance to see old friends I haven't seen since February of 2020!

I hadn't been to one until a month or two ago, it's been nice to get back and see everyone. We have the Maumee Valley Arms Collectors this weekend. They shut down at the beginning of the madness last year. They have also moved to a new location and I'm hoping they can start filling tables again, that show has been dying for the last few years. The facility they had was really falling apart and I'm hoping the new location in Bowling Green, OH is an improvement.

Pretty obvious that there's a difference between the actions since there's a screw missing. Since I was strictly speaking of the revolvers in my possession there are differences between all of them and the the trigger pull, and trigger pull only, on the new Flattop is no better or worse than a couple that have that aren't Three Screws.
