Went to D.C. this week

Post by 505stevec »

It was all for an Amber Alert Meeting with DOJ. The really cool part was I got to go to the Native American History Museum. While all the culture was great the REALLY Cool part of this was I found a display of firearms used by Natives over the years. Sitting Bull's Henry was there, Geronimo's 1876 was there and many more. Some of these old levers were in great shape. I highly recomend anyone here drop by just for the guns if nothing else. :D

The oldest daughter lives up in NOVA. We're (the wife) is planning to go up and spend a few days. We'll go to the NRA museum, and the Native American museum is on the top of the list (we've been to most of the rest). I imagine the women will shop some and the dog and I will lay on the sofa and watch TV (sleep)...
Sincerely,

Hobie

The Museum of American History(also on the Mall) is also a must see. They have alot of Rev War/Civil War items and firearms. My favorite is the tree stump from a tree cut down by musketry during either the Wilderness or Spotsylvania battle. Still see all the mini balls stuck in the wood. Ford's theatre, though a little off the beaten path, is another must see. The theatre is as it was and all the items surrounding Lincolns death are in the basement museum. Hot in the summer but incredible to see as you can almost touch the pieces. Need to get the NA museum next time we are there!

I am fortunate that a DC trip was only 20 miles as I was growing up. I have always wanted to spend a full day in each of the museums there to absorb it all. I would think this weekend, a trip to "the wall" and arlington would be well worth it too!

Hobie, It would be well worth your while to spend those few days in the Smithsonian - It's an amazing place.

MY son was just telling someone this morning about going to the Spy Museum. It must have made a big impression on him. It was over two years ago that he went.

I second the Spy Museum. And the various Smithsonians. D.C. wouldn't be so bad if it was just museums.

Yea it would be a pretty nice place if we could just keep all the legislators out of it.

The NRA museum is one i didnt get to go to. Not to brag but I was suprised that they let me carry concealed as a LEO in D.C. I know all the Anti-Governatarians think we ALL run together but it suprised be none the less. The only place I had to surrender my weapon was at the DOJ.
