Must have spares for a Rossi 92 or levers in general
Times like these get you thinking about long term maintenance of firearms. I have a few odds and ends stored. Looking for opinions from more experienced folk on what they like to keep on hand

Anything can break but springs are my only major concern. I keep a few extras. Major parts can be difficult and expensive to obtain.

Thanks wvfarrier, noted.

Marlin ejectors would be good to have on hand if you have a Marlin.

Ejectors and extractors.
Springs and screws can usually be made but are cheap to have extras of.
Or....consider a spare gun of same model. You have all the parts then, although of course you are down to one gun with the first broken part....on the other hand, in the interim you have a functional, sellable firearm instead of some parts in a drawer.
In the case of Rossi’s I think it is easier to buy a complete gun than some of the parts...

Re: Must have spares for a Rossi 92 or levers in general
Screws....I probably have 2-300 screws for every model Winchester .....all kinds of weird threads and no part of any gun is excluded. Sometimes I'll bugger one up or lose it.
Many screws are interchangeable bewtween models and even brands. Also keep on hand taps and dies for most of these obsolete thread sizes in case I have to make a screw.
Never saw a need to keep extra parts except sights, detents and such for AR's, bolt carrier group, ejector housing parts for single action Rugers that fly off sometimes, action springs for 'Smith and Colt double actions that I change out for smoothness.
1/4 million rounds later the only parts that I can remember that broke from use was an ejector on an 1892 that's was made in 1893, a firing pin on an 1893 Marlin made in 1901 that was broke when I bought it, hand spring on a single action Colt, hammer for an 1892 that I stoned too much.
Guns will work near forever if you keep em clean as dirt will wear the parts fast.
Oh! You mentioned Rossi's. Dunno

Thanks fellas. I am a 1 centrefire only guy these days but thinking 1 centefire 'with 1-2 identical backups' in the safe still keeps the philosophy intact. Thanks for the points too on those parts which do come in handy.
Re: Must have spares for a Rossi 92 or levers in general
I have a couple small drawers full of Colt and Ruger single action parts and a couple with Winchester and Rossi parts. They come in handy when working on an old gun I pick up but have rarely ever had to go to them in around 65 years of shooting for my working guns.

Six, maybe you should send me a real top end 92, and that 32-20 in the Sig line should probably come along
So I can make a fair comparison.
Where do B92s fall in the hierarchy?

B'92's fall into the "fine/excellent category". Made of better materials than the originals but with only a small to mediocre chance of surpassing value past inflation. Only shot one that belonged to my BIL but only at steel, not for group.
Re: Must have spares for a Rossi 92 or levers in general
I got my hands on a B92 at one stage, had seen quite a bit of use in cowboy action and the fella wanted $800 I think. I passed it up as it didnt like feeding the short 38 specials my Rossi digests. Probably the only time a Rossi beat a browning in some way. Actually I recall Steve saying Rossi's probably are less finicky about COAL due to changes they made to the original design...

Re: Must have spares for a Rossi 92 or levers in general
Yeah it seems like Marlin 1894's are like Uzi's or 1911's - few parts, and robust ones at that. Plus, they mostly fit between models and calibers. Almost as good with the 336's...

Re: Must have spares for a Rossi 92 or levers in general
For the Rossi 92 you should have a spare firing pin. The tips will break off and there's thin section in the middle where the lever straddles it that will sometimes break. Rossi tends to over harden/ under draw back their parts so they are sometimes brittle.
The ones I sell aren't made by Rossi. I have them made to my specs and I''ve never had one come back.
ROSSI 92 FIRING PIN
Loading gate/dust coves. Rossi's are three pieces bradded together. Mine are one piece like the originals.
BLUED REPLACEMENT LOADING GATE-SPRING COVER
REPLACEMENT LOADING GATE-SPRING COVER STAINLESS FINISH
A spare ejector too. This is a part that see's pressure so the will break. Mine aren't as brittle as the Rossi's.
REPLACEMENT EJECTOR
And your gonna loose the bushing too.
