How THE HELL did they think they were gonna get a gun ban after what happened during Katrina? Stupid bastards.

I'm pretty sure Bobby would have vetoed it anyway if it ever made it to his desk. Did you read/hear his remarks at the NRA convention last week? Seems like a solid pro-gun governor!!! :D

Not to be a wet blanket, but doesn't it concern anyone that we are cheering not because of a right we gained, but because of a right that wasn't taken away?
It's a sad commentary on the state of RKBA that we cheer when we don't lose.

"Richmond was joined in his presentation by New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and ranking members of the New Orleans Police Department, who brought confiscated assault weapons and ammunition to the hearing. Nagin said that since Hurricane Katrina, the department has seized more than 600 illegal assault weapons in the city, many used by drug dealers. "

That darned Ray Nagin and his band of henchmen... just what is an "illegal assault weapon"? I'm willing to bet that not one of these was full auto. Further, they state that they confiscated (they like that word) them from CRIMINALS. Yes, the criminals had these ilegally - because they are probably all convicted felons and were of course using them for criminal intent - but the rifles themselves aren't ilegal. Stupid butt socialists.

I will bet you that if another natural disaster like Katrina hits New Orleans (God forbid) and this jerk and his appointed Police Cheif are in power, that we will see a repeat of the first Katrina's antics - why? Because they suffered no ill effects of doing it the first time and he was re-elected! Which I can't believe any more than the fact that the people of MA kept Ted Kennedy in office.

It WILL happen again. The coast is mother nature's whipping boy.

I have to concur with Pharmseller. Whatever happened to the country where more than half of our representatives would have been up in arms, calling for the head of the dumb bastard that wrote an abortion such as this?

We all ought to be upset that it was ever proposed.
