Allergic to horses? Never heard that one before.....just cross your fingers and hope dogs & game birds don't enter the picture.

Shotgun shells are three deep with the rare 100+ year old two piece boxes in the back so the ink doesn't fade. Military match ammo is also stored face down to preserve the big eagles and dates. 98% of all of it is full and original. ----006

Around 5 boxes of very old 28 gauge in there.

Yup last time I was around a horse I swelled up like a tick! That was the only time I've been near one and I won't do it again!
I am allergic to cats too- since I have no use for house cats I could care less. Deer blood makes me break out in hives- I'm very careful when gutting/dragging/ skinning. Elk didn't bother me but I took precautions when I gutted my elk. Mmmm elk!

Quite the collection, but I think you ought to send that box of 32 colt to Tom since he has that Marlin 32.

As for those old 28s well I know a guy that shoots a 28 :D

Ever watch that show Highway Thru Hell, on the weather channel? It's about these guys with the heavy wreckers- man do they get some weird recoveries! Entertaining show none the less.

3legg, the life of planer blades can be dependent on what the main diet is. Soft woods they should last quite a while. Hard woods less. Dirty/ painted will eat the edge off the blades fast. Amount of use will determine life too. As with all cutting tools the steel has much to do with the life span. My 12" Dewalt I bought about 20 yrs ago and I finally had to get them sharpened, mostly saw pine. I needed 1/4" pine for 1 project- had to buy a planer to get it. A friend that lost the battle left me his 18" planer moulder, WoodMaster, I haven't had to touch those knives yet but they haven't seen much use. Hope this is some help... Oh! - and depth of cut , light cuts put less stress on cutting edges.

Awwww that's not very nice Tom! I have probably 400 218's running around here that need to have some fun! What could be more fun for them then a ride through the load gate into the mag tube then backwards onto the carrier up into the chamber to be ejected and free fall to the ground? People pay good money for that kind of stuff at amusement parks

Gunny....it ain't nuttin'.....that's why the 218 never sold well....killed a mess of foxes and crows with Tom's and for that it does a nice job.

Can I have it? I'll give you 3 Osage orange pieces of firewood for it. I'll throw in some red maple too! What kind of groups do you get with it? My 218 ...which I used to have.....was an honest 1" gun with the Hornady Bee bullet.

40gr Vmax, 13.1 of 4227 would easily stay under a half inch off sand bags at 100. Since there is no reason to NOT shoot a spitzer I never bothered with the Bee bullet for accuracy testing. I relieved the forend/ receiver so it could get glassed, opened the barrel channel and added a pressure point at the tip which turned the finicky #1 into bug hole group rifle.

I saw the pics of the 'crowd ' at the capital building- yeah that confirms it, no way in hades babbling blithering biden won!

Wow...you have a real deal shooter there......curious, how do you know how much pressure to put on the forend? Like, what do you do, imbed a threaded ring in the wood and turn the screw until accuracy.

Where's all the action around here? What are you all doing, deciding on what color socks your going to wear tomorrow? I stopped over Six's and he put a scope on an old 1894 Marlin in 44-40. Said he made a mount from an old rail and used the factory holes that are used for some kind of a rear sight....

He said this rifle is only good for 1 & 1/2" @ 100 meters so he needs a scope to shoot 1/4" groups. He uses some kind of a bullet that he makes from a tool that looks like a pair of pliers. I think he's pulling my leg and I just hope it's not the middle one.

Boy! That scope looks right at home on that Marlin! You should have just drilled and tapped it. Use 1/20 so it will hold really good. And put one of those super long pic rails on there with a light and RMR on a 45 degree angle. :D
Yeah....that's what i would do! :D

In school, stock making we were taught that while inletting the barrel channel to leave 2 spots near the forend tip that would always be in contact, 1/4" wide by 1/2" long. The idea was as the barrel warmed up it would expand and thus stop harmonic vibes. It works but you want first shot from a cold barrel to be ON. As for how much pressure, any kind of up is ok. However if the gun is a high volume shooter this isn't ideal- free floating is best then. When I put my 338 WM together in school I had to make the stock with the bedding points at the tip, sure it worked after a half dozen shots , POI would change. After my "A" grade was in the book I scraped out those points and then glassed the barrel channel- had to prove to myself why/how that was no good... accuracy went to hell. Then all the glass was removed except for the recoil lug area, first 2" of barrel channel in the chamber area and the channel floated out to the tip. It'll hold 5/8" with a load it likes.

As for that #1 all I did was soak a piece of leather in oil and stick it in the forend and tighten the attachment screw. If it was a rifle that would be out the nasty weather it would be a blob of acraglass.

Oh heck that Marlin just needed a couple globs of crazy glue to hold the mount in place! If that didn't work well then braze that sucker in place.

Gunny...you must have been in gumsmit school when I was first getting into long range shooting......had a 700 Varmint in 22-250 that I had full length bedded...it was and still is an excellent shooter but my little 16" Colt AR .223 outshoots it after 300 yards............as you know, it's the twist and longer bullets that do it.

Last year I swapped stocks with that 22-250 and a new .308 Remington with the 5R rifling which was in a Mag Pul free floated stock....shot LOTS better in the wood stock...go figure......the BAR shoots like a match rifle with that 2.5 pound hunk of bipod hanging off the end of the barrel.......when I take the bi pod off, it goes from a moa gun to 3 moa....go figure....

I've been living my life in the past rarely going to the club anymore...3x in 2020......paranoid I'll catch something and give it to mom.....going a little batty with cabin fever.......

Thanks Gunny......putting the leather in there makes sense...cushions the harmonics.....today I prefer free floated...my AR's will shoot exactly the same all day no matter how hot the barrel gets.

I like stupid stories....when I was 18 I bought a Ruger Blackhawk Old Model in 357 ($97) with a factory brass frame that costs $10 extra....NIB.....It was a new gun at a gunshop......then they were just Ruger Blackhawks as the New Models were not out yet. My brother had to buy it for me as I was not yet old enough. The brass frame gun was extremely rare as only something like 300 were made with the 6.5 barrel. The gunshop was also a jobber so he got these guns factory direct and he had a whole stack of these guns in 4 calibers with the brass frame.....I didn't know nothing about that stuff at the time.

Anyway, I shot it a fair amount as it was my first real revolver......then the next year I walked in the gunshop and there was this stainless steel 357.....I traded in my brass framed Ruger and bought the stainless. They allowed me $60 for the old model ...believe the new gun cost me $129 and with the trade in I paid $69 plus tax.

It was one of the first stainless Rugers to leave the factory in stainless and since that day in July of '73 I put 5,995 rounds out of it. It's no longer tight and spits a little. I loved that gun more than anything and still have it but have not shot it in 20 years except for some shot loads killing carpenter bees.--

Think I'll order a new bolt and spring and tighten her up.

Yup. I only weed out stuff that don't matter. The good stuff with the right roll marks stay right here.
Gonna shoot em, then give em to my kids and grandkids so they can shoot em.
I'd like another SAA. Maybe a Winchester or 2.
I'm saving my money old buddy! I'd like to come for a visit once I get enough. Of course......that's quite a pile! :D

My mom's uncle served with Patton (the one that was a warden with my grandfather. He was a hoot!). He had huge respect for the man. He said you may not like what he had to say, but he stood by it and was usually right. He was right there with you and wasn't some mealy mouth politician like too many of today's military brass.
That's why the politicians hated him. And got rid of him.
He was also about the only one the Germans really feared. Their tactics were very similar. Patton also greatly respected the Frontline German Wehrmacht soldier. This also got him in hot water with the politicians.
The biggest blunder Ike made was going ahead with Market Garden. He knew it was folly too, but again......politics.
Those same men and supplies given to a Patton/Bradley led offensive would have ended the war much sooner.

Reminds me of another great leader being disliked by politicians...

Stainless, must have been mid to late 80's? When I first landed in CO I picked up a botched SBH 44. The guy tried doing a trigger job with a FILE. If you held your breath the sear might hold. New trigger and sear were ordered. I shot that gun a lot! Then one on my classmates decided he really wanted it, traded me a K22 (1953 by factory letter) for it. He and John Gallagher (Rip) then turned it into a 22K hornet- talk about LOUD! It was about the same time Gallagher and I were doing my 44 special.

Oh and General McAulliffe was the brother of my old chiropractor and he was a pistol shooter & 1968 Olympian.

It would have to drop 20 degrees before snow could happen here. 45 degrees today.

Gunny....1973....look at the serial number......it follows the last of the old models.

Patton was a real soldiers leader...I would have followed him into battle.....although he was educated he spoke like a common man.....I loved his speech, full of profanities where Bradley didn't think much of it and neither did Ike...both liberals as far as I'm concerned......it's just like today with Trump.....the rinos and the Dems think he is an animal because they "are so much better than him" and "they know best" F em all, I hope this country collapses under the liberal rule.

Well, got to hook up the trailer and head to my daughters ......she's using pops like a wet rag, just like her mother does. Her pretty boy significant other dare not get his hands dirty.....another educated liberal.---6

No! Buy your own!

Something ain't right in the air...I was out and about today chatting with people today and they were telling me they have been seeing military trucks and today i was getting out of the Jeep at the post office and I saw cargo planes headed south...which is extremely unusual....some lady saw me looking up and she got out of her car asking me, "what kind of planes are those?". I told her "big ones and they ain't carrying passengers."-----6

Jay,
It's crazy bro! After living 66 years I feel different...actions are being taken that don't make sense.....the left is out of control and there's something they are not telling us.

Our regular newscaster whom we've been watching for 20 years came on during his broadcast and was crying.....he said a relative visited his mom (not the newscasters mom and sister) and sister and the next day they were all dead from Covid...

Martial law coming to a theatre near us.....soon...

Yup.
I don't watch any television or news of any kind.
Lies. All of it.
There is no stopping what is coming. It's already happened in reality. The effects just haven't been widely felt.
As I said, now is the time to keep it tight. Take care of yourself, your family, and your friends.
Now is the time to be buying books. Books on how to make or grow the things you need, how to survive, identify plants, first aid, anything you think you may need to know.
Censorship is looming soon. Online and in print. Knowledge is power and independence.
They want everyone dependent on the government. These "stimulus checks" will be a permanent fixture from now on. Now EVERYONE is on welfare. It will be another political tool to use and exploit. They will make and tax everything to the point where it will be needed to survive.

I know I'm an outsider but I reckon it's not just your home grown democrats you are up against, the criminals in power are in cahoots with other governments near and far.
Globalisation is behind a lot of what's going on and President Trump was definitely in the way and couldn't be bought.
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

Know why cats SUCK?
I'll tell you why.

Ever see a cat run through a field back and forth repeatedly with a smile on its face in the hope it smells a bird?
Ever see a cat jump into a lake in early winter , swim 100 yards to grab a dead duck then swim back to you and be ready to do it again?
I didn't think so.

Cats suck.

I tell ya dude........

I seen some people that don't like cats......
But you top the list.

Well, I just sold my Springfield Armory Loaded Micro Compact. Made some money on it. I never used it. The officers sized 1911s just ain't my thing.
Stick with my Governments and Commanders.
